In a turbo application the turbo is the back pressure so you want the exhaust gases to be the least restrictive they can be from the turbo to the tail pipe. In other words it would be hard to go to too big of exhaust on a turbo. The other big thing a turbo likes is a smooth transition from the exhaust wheel's exducer (preferable a 7 degree included angle) to the down-pipe flange and then on out at 7 degrees to 3" with as much of a straight section as possible. From all of the Saab turbo exhaust systems I've helped create 3" seems to be an ideal diameter for a higher HP application. The no longer available Group 9 Performance 9000 Aero 3" exhaust systems gave a 30 to 40 HP increase but they were so expensive that not many were sold. "for every 10 degrees under 50, a turbo car will make another 2 1/2 hp or so sounds very realistic to me, maybe we should all be running water injection! Dave
