Motor mount bolt, perhaps another weak link Posted by MTAERO [Email] (#2408) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MTAERO) on Sat, 24 Mar 2007 07:41:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
12,000 miles from home in Montana and I hear a big snap and then lots of vibration, The engine is sitting on the oil pan on the right side. Suspected the motor mount or bracket so went to work in sons driveway in El Segunda,Ca.
It was the 8mm bolt that broke. All the mounts in my Viggen are upgraded with custom very stiff bushings.
This obviously puts more stress on the bolt and bracket. I am going to change to a larger 12mm bolt when I get back to Montana next week.
Thanks to Anders (Swedecar) and Nick (Genuine Saab) for help in getting back on the road.
