First of all it's the '90 and up C-900T flywheel that has the larger clutch, in other words the '89 was the last of the smaller ones. Also you wouldn't want to re-drill your early flywheel for the larger clutch with a drill as it has to be done in a milling machine to get the holes in exactly the right place, especially the dowel pin holes that locate the pressure plate. As far as weight the stock C-900 flywheel is 21 lbs and like you say the aluminum ones are around 10 lbs depending on the brand. I have one C-900 with an aluminum flywheel with no warping problems but mine use a steel insert. The aluminum flywheel does however make the car a little touchy to drive taking off from a dead start up an incline. I've never seen a steel C-900T flywheel warp and you certainly couldn't warp it simply by unbolting the pressure plate. I've lightened over a hundred of these flywheels to from 14 to 16 lbs and I've never had one of them warp either.
