I've been laughing like Scott Evil from Austin Powers for about 12hrs now. I can't seem to stop. I'm waiting for my hair to fall out for the comb over...

Just drove back from Automotion last night with an old beat up actuator and a rocket ship of a SAAB.

It all started months ago...

Loaned my Stage 4 car to a coworker. Got it back with no boost.
Turns out my exhaust wheel resented the rest of the turbo. It tried to remove itself physically from the equation.
When I pulled it off the car the turbo was more of a maraca than anything else.
Andre down at Turbo Exchange took a look at the paperweight (I mean core) and laughed. There was now one less TD04 in the world.

I'll swear by the TD04. The Viggen style is great. The Aero version is even better.

Why mess with a good thing. The answer is that some people just aren't right.
One of them started this board. Another one is me.

So on to Stage 5 custom. I had an18t upgrade carved up from a fresh TD04 and had Paul at Automotion burn me up a new ECU. The thing went together easily with under one six-pack.

Took it out on the road and it ran smooth as silk; great driveablity. Problem was it just wasn't making better power than Stage 4. I got great power and breathing all the way to redline but the boost was fluttering at 20psi and holding. And the old pit bull feel was gone. I drove it this way for a few weeks.

FAST Forward--->

Brought it over to the shop in Billricca and Paul called out the actuator. Turns out the unit that came with the new turbo had less spring in it's step then the Warrior at a Canadian strip club (calling you out Seth ;))
A new stock unit held the gate closed much better across the power band and added more snap on demand. The car was now clearly faster than it used to be but it still wasn't taking full advantage of the software/hardware combo.

So Paul dug deep, I mean literally, and pulled out what looked like an actuator from old turbo diesel from out of nowhere.

Lady, Gentlemen, HOLY *#$%

“This car wants me to die and God help me I love it”
