I calc'd 2 degrees retard for a b2x4 "short" head:
D = 720h/NP
where
D = amount of retard (crankshaft degrees)
h = change in cyl head height (1mm) [source: Saab factory manuals. Basically, NG minimum thickness is less than OG min. thickness by 1 mm]
N = number of cam sprocket teeth (mine's 38 teeth) [source: me – I counted ]
P = chain pitch (mine's 9.525mm or 3/8") [source: Iwis, Saab OEM chain company in Germany]
So running the numbers : 720*1mm/38*9.525mm = 1.989 degrees of retard at the crank.

Chain spec from Saab OEM supplier, Iwis:
http://www.iwis.com/index.php?id=674 (B202 chain type is G68WN, according to this page: http://www.iwis-flexon.com/index.php?id=53)
One thing I noticed with the B204 NA intake cam I use (from a mid-90s Motronic NG900) is that the distributor slot may be machined at a different angle. I never measured, but to adjust ignition timing with this cam on my B212 engine w/B204 head, the distributor is turned farther clockwise (when viewed from the front) than normal. I assume this is due to the slot angle in the cam.
