i went down the path of bolt ons (msd, rrfpr, apc mods, distributor mods, exhaust, intake, head work, cams, etc.) and showed decent gains along the way. these are great for modest power gains and minimal expense (until you get into the head and cams). however, the biggest gain for me came when i removed the msd, rrfpr, apc and added an aftermarket ecu. the amount i spent over years in bolt ons, i spent once for the ecu. since it is programmable it is scalable and therefore can grow with any changes you make. you can max out boost, or get a nice solid tune on 12-15 psi and good power through fueling and timing tweaks.
it's tough to swallow the investment all at once, and unless you are patient and careful, you can cause serious damage if you tune it your self. however, you will learn a tremendous amount of information about how the car runs lean or rich and be able to make adjustments along the way.
that said, if you are looking for something to bolt on for power increase and don't plan to make any more modifications, make sure your engine is in good tune, then reach out to JSP as i believe he is doing burns for the fuel chips in the 900s.
