Downpipe for sure. I'm very happy with the JT 3" downpipe and a MSS sport exhaust (2.5 inch mandrel bent, w/glass-pack).
However, this makes the battery an issue. You may be able to fit an AGM (like optima) on its side in the stock location. This would be a much better solution IMHO than moving it all the way to the trunk, which is a less than optimal solution (granted its the way i went).
About the Intercooler: Yes, a 9000 I.C. is a large amount of work, requires removal of the front tie-down points, and probably the A/C. Theres a good reason people use air/water units in the stock location. Water injection is also an option. I'm not a fan of adding more consumables, but it would achieve the desired effect of lower charge air temp
