Trust me, no 10w-30 is gonna hold up to proper oil pressure in a saab motor during the summer.
I've been running a oil pressure gauge for almost 2 years now and ran a test one summer. The goal was to find what oil weight held up to the saab factory test spec of 40 psi at 2000 RPM when fully warm. Needless to say with temps in my are in the summer hover around 90 F or higher I was lucky to 25 psi at 2000 rpm with a 10w-30, idle was even scarier to see; just a tad over where the dash light would have come on. Needlss to say I don't run any 30w at all any more.
My winter oil is 0w-40/10w-40 and it holds pressure fine near that 40psi number till about 60F and up which is when I change to my summer oil of 15w-50 and that holds at 36-38 psi at 2k RPM depending on how hot and how many pulls I've done.
This is all from my 99 9-3 B204 motor which has the same oil pump as all b2x5 series motors. Just another thing that helps me keep this test applicable to the b2x5 cars.
Also not this page scanned in from my owners manual, thought it was interesting that it matches my test results and knowing the test pressure standard.
