Most of the bigger name tuners label their ECU's, it's located in the 'fishtank,' at the back of the engine compartment. There's a long black plastic cover that runs between the hood hinges. If you remove the cover, the ECU is mounted vertically on the driver's side inside the fishtank, you can pull it out enough to see if it's marked.

If it is not market, it's possible that someone put in a reflashed ECU done with the T5Suite software.

It could be that there are hardware problems too, you'd have to get those from the check engine fault codes. You can probably figure out some of them from the procedure below.
