Question about head port n' polish & GT3071r on A/T9000

Hi guys,

The car is '94 9000 Aero A/T. Recently the car develop the HG problem so the head would need to be out of the car.
Local mech. shop said they could offer head port & polishing with decent price.
As I plan to upgrade the car near future to ST5 or ST6, so I have some questions here:

Firstly, just wonder port & finishing job is a required upgrade if plan to go for sth. 400+ hp flywheel? What do I get from port & polishing the T5 head and if that is significant?

Secondly, just wonder if GT3071R 0.64 would be too laggie for auto trans? my goal is sth. around 400-420 hp. I used to drive a 2.3Liter 9000 A/T with GT28RS and I think I could live with that kind of lag, how about the 3071?

Any input is so appreciated. Thanks guys!
