Peter is right, some more info it needed, but no, any of the SAAB 16V heads won't really affect piston choice, esp. if you're getting custom pistons - you will spec the compression ratio that you want and have the pistons made to give you that.
There is info here (and more on the other forums) about fitting T5 and T7 heads from the later model cars, but there is some fabrication involted. The sealing surface on the top of the timing cover where it meets the far left side of the head doesn't line up when the chain layouts changed in 1994. You will have to either have your timing cover modified and machined, or the head modified.
Given the choice always go for the T7 head from an '00-'02 9-3 or any year 4-cylinder 9-5, and use cams from any '94-'98 9000 or '94-'98 NG900.
If you do either the T5 or T7 swap YOU WILL NEED A CUSTOM (or heavily modified) INTAKE MANIFOLD, the later inlet port geometries are very different from the C900 ports, which is why they flow so much better.
If you want a fair portion of the benefit but a bolt-up application, the "2.1L" head from a '91+ C900 non-turbo or any '91-'93 9000 head is a big flow increase over the C900 heads, and use the cams from the N/A C900, and use the inlet manifold from the 2.1L C900. You will know the 2.1L head by the part number cast into at the top corner of the timing chain area, right where it faces the A/C compressor, the # you want is 911535.
My '85 900T makes about the same 235whp/290wtq that drupchen's car makes, and I have a 2.1L head and intake on mine.
Best,
Drew
