I'm looking to get into tuning my 9-3 i've had now for a couple years. I live in midewest United States. Iv'e took some time and sorted through threads on the various saab sites but need so me outside solid input from tuners. Whats good and what works with a 2.0 b205?
*Handling and Suspension*
Im wanting to improve the handling. Ive heard of the viggen rescue kit being a good start, although i have the se model.. would this work?? If not any suggestions for handling for a 2.0 se ??
Best place to purchase?
Also planning to purchase some of the koni dampers and new springs.. i here the eibachs are the way to go.
*Intake and Exhaust*
Intake:
I think im going to keep the stock box.. ive got a k&n performance filter in there and from the sounds its the safest way and still offers a slight gain in HP.
Bigger intake pipe:
Will this throw off my MAF? If not
-Maptun offers the Stock 9-5 Aero inlet pipe 06- as an option.
-Abbott, Taliaferro, and others like Jak stoll offer a "big" intake pipe
Uprated intercooler
At what stage do i need one? or is it bestno matter the stage?
Comments/ suggestions here??
Turbo:
-I've got the TD04HL-15T-5 which i understand is pretty decent.
Exhaust:
-Maptun offers the JT 3' complete made of alumnized steel
-Abbott Racing 3' stainless steel complete
-BSR offers a 3" downpipe and sportflow kit
Any suggestions here or better alternatives??
*Engine*
Im looking at going to about stage 3 or 4 initially. With the parts and software looks pretty close to 300hp maybe a little less.
Forged pistons:
Ive heard the b205s have excessive blow-by and weak pistons. Shouldn't forged pistons be a must for any b205/b235 tuner? I have also read tuning the b205 should be good to about 300 hp which is right about where stage 3 and 4 with parts and software.
Do I need 'em?? If so other modifications are necessary. I've heard a everyhing from a direct piston replacement to boring.. needing t5 camshafts springs and valves. Whats the real deal?
Software:
From what ive read everyone seems to like BSR.. not sure if thats because its the easiest or what. Ive also visted Nordic and Maptun websites as well as Jak Stoll and Taliaferro.
Will the manufactuer make adjutments for other harware components not from their stage kit?? Is it okay as is..or do i need to take it to a custom tuning shop somwhere with a dyno to get it really tuned??
Thanks for advice on anything mentioned here or anything i forgot to mention!
Cheers,
Chris
