Thanks, Gary for your reply.
The detail I didn't post, was that my car was in the body shop after meeting a suicidal deer just down the road from my driveway a couple of weeks ago. Just a week after getting it back from the engine swap.... It pained me to tell the shop owner today that although the radiator, wheel well liner, serpentine belt and tensioner, and fan were all out or disconnected, I couldn't rightfully put this turbo back in, in this condition. The wastegate armature is completely rusted, and un-adjustable. A replacement forge unit is 6-8 weeks delivery. even the steel jacketed original would be more time than I care to be without the car , at the moment. Your information relative to the difference I might notice, softened the blow a bit.
It was this new energy that my old girl has shown that got me thinking about boosting performance a bit anyway, after all, where else am I going to find a 30mpg performance sedan that has been paid for, for 9 years now ? Engineered for these cold, snowy Syracuse winters? So this winter, I will collect a nice new set of oil, water connectors...assess/rebuild/recartridge the turbo, find a spare ECU to tweak, and locate a 3" downpipe and cat section ( a stainless cat-back set was put in years ago....) Man....can't wait for spring !
