Hello Mike, here's one of my responses to a rather lengthy thread where every one had lots of good info on vacuum line sizes and fit!http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=476479185&albumID=278698&imageID=17396632 There's also a link there of a photo of my Talladega 9000's engine compartment that shows the vacuum source for your BPV if your '87 is the same as my '88! It's the 90 degree nipple that plugs into the passenger side end of the intake manifold plenum. It then goes over (down) to the drivers side to a Y where one line feeds the firewall area and the other one goes forward to the BPV. Also while looking for this info I ran across an old post where you were paging 900 Aero for contact info and I was probably in NY and didn't see it, sorry about that, my anytime phone number is 805-235-3951. As far as "the purpose of this vacuum hose" it signals the BPV to close during boost and open when vacuum is present. A bypass valve has two purposes, it keeps what little pressure the turbo makes at idle and in between shifts in the system so that when you get back on the throttle the turbo spools up a little quicker rather than having to build boost all over again. Probably the more important function of a bypass valve is that without it the rapid pressure changes turn the turbine wheel shaft into a torsion bar which could result in premature turbo failure! If you do need more help on your line routing just give me a call!
