I always thought that a driveline was sized to the weight or mass of the car, and not the power of the engine. You can put 500hp through a cheap powerglide automatic in a 1500 lb. T-bucket roadster. As the weight or GVWR of a pickup goes up the driveline gets beefier. Power of the engine doesn't define the drivetrain, rather the weight and tow rating.
