toe in ..what does it feel like?

I've read posts where people comment on feeling too much "toe in" in terms of allignment.. and made reference to adjusting camber as well.
I know it's hard as hell to describe a "feeling" in words.. but how would you know if it were time for an allignment even if the car were tracking essentially straight?
My guess for a good road test for toe-in being off is when you're moving straight and fast.. if you give the wheel a little tug, it straightens back out quickly, and doesnt rebound from left to right a couple of times if the allignment is right... but i'm known for being wrong about these things :)
Aside from wanting a handy way to know when it's time for an allignment and generally wanting to understand these terms (for example I think I understand the physics of caster and camber, but not really how they apply to the "feel" of a car) I also have a suspicion that the Viggen in particular becomes MUCH harder to control under hard acceleration when the allignment's not PERFECT.
And since I just changed tires to So2 Poles (same size as stock dunlops tho) I'm curious if it's time for an alligntment.
