Drilled and slotted rotors are meant to evacuate the gasses that are produced between the brake pad and the rotor. This microscopic layer of gasses decreases brake performance. Slots and holes allow the pad to stay in better contact with the rotor by giving the gas a way out.
Ventilated rotors allow for better cooling by increasing the mass of the brakes and also increasing surface area.
Most front brakes are ventilated while the rears are not. If you want to more effectively cool your rears you should focus on ventilated rotors instead of drilled.
Since most drilled rotors are meant for high performance use they will also, most likely, be ventilated but that is not always the case. For instance, the Viggen's fronts are both slotted and ventilated but the rears are slotted only.
