You could also consider the Subaru Legacy 4-cam Turbo or a Galant VR-4.... they are early '90's but newer than an '88... most good ones sell for around $5-7k... There's also the Celica All-trac... ('88-'92) take a look at the 'Classifieds' section of this website, you often find turbo 4wd cars there: http://www.bensrallypage.com some of them will have been modified, but many are stock... I would not touch and Audi 5000 or 200 turbo quattro with a forty foot pole.... A4's are much better, but I wouldn't want one for under $10k, unless the seller was a complete idiot.... The Subaru Impreza RS (1996-2001) offers 2 or 4 doors, and while not a turbo, it is 165 bhp stock (more than the A4), and will run with most turbos...
I'd call that my 2c, but it probably doesn't add up to that much!
