About 20 years ago, a large manufacturer of A.I.R. pumps built a few superchargers that were based on their exiting line of air pumps. As I recall they were going after Chrysler. Chrysler had a line of 4 cylinder turbocharged engines at the time. It never made it to market. The standard supercharger problems of pumping losses, consumes power when not being used, etc. could not be solved cheaply at the time.
As far as A.I.R (air injection reactor....think it was a GM term) pumps went, they pulsed pretty bad. I wouldn't think that would be good.
