I've been thinking about this exact same thing. Here's what I would do. Since I have a n/a as well I also have that huge gap under the headlight and the bumper has slits so that good to direct air into the engine bay. My plan is to get a piece of 180degree mandrel bent tubing from jcwhitney.com. Then using rubber connectors, connect the amm directly to the throttle body, if this isn't possible I will have to have place a piece of the metal tubing between the AMM and throttle body. Then using the tubing again relocate the filter to that gap area under the headlight. As for your question about water, I plan on using a AEM air bypass valve to insure that water isn't sucked into the engine bay. Keep in mind that you can use any type of tubing to do this, but don't use PVC it will crack, splinter, or just plain kill your engine. Don't use that flexable tubing the inside isn't smooth and will kill air flow. Once you look at the tubing I'm referring to your imagination will take over. Basically the piece I'm talking about is exhuast pipe that is prebent. you will have approx, 2 feet of straight pipe and the 180 degree bend will allow you to cut and get the necessary bends to do the job. Hope I helped, any questions just ask.
