fuel pressure vs. injector atomization

anyone have any ideas on what the optimum fuel rail pressure is for our injectors? stock/24/30lbs? the reason i ask, i turned down the rrfpr to compensate for the 30 lbs injectors which decreases the pressure at the rail. at some point (severely exaggerated), the pressure would be so low that it would dribble out. again, this won't happen at our pressures, but could in theory. therefore, there must be a pressure at which the injectors atomize the fuel best and provide optimum power release from conbustion. in practice, i noticed last night the power was smooth and strong with a certain rrfpr setting. when i backed it off to get the idle to drop (i.e. too rich), i noticed a decrease in power and more knock prone. i wonder if i started to drop out of the optimum range of the injectors and was not getting as efficient atomization at a lower pressure. any thoughts on this?
btw, i will turn it back up and add the resistor in the amm. but, does this actually lean out the mixture, or just fool the computer into thinking the mixture is lean?
thanks.
