Summer vs all/no season again! Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Fri, 9 Nov 2001 10:15:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Reading the threads I know this is a common debate!
Driving 93 Saab 9000 Aero & 205/55 ZR16 Michelin Pilot HX is OEM tire I'm replacing. Have winter studded tires I need to run for 6 months here in Denver. I could shorten the time (to 3-4 months)with studded winters if I go to an all season and there have been significant advances in the tires since the Pilot HX (8 yrs old).
Questions:
1) Would I notice a handling & performance decrease with say the Dunlop SP5000 which is W rated "All Season" compared to my Z rated Michelin Pilot HX's. I know there has been enthusiasm for the SP5000 on this board especially by Michael S. Who has driven both the Pilot HX and the Dunlop SP5000 and can compare the differences in performance and handling?
2)And will there be a significant improvement moving up to the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position compared to my Michelin's which I assume I could only use for about 6 months of the year (which seems a shame).
3) How much difference will I notice between the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position and the Dunlop SP5000 in city and highway driving my Aero?
I'm also posting same message on 9000 board, hope that's OK.
Thanks for any feedback. Frank
