Oil starvation in raced 99s/B-engined 900s?

I've got a crank that came out of a N/A 99 raced in ITB for two years, 65K
total miles. It's pitted on the #3 journal upstream (counterclockwise)
of the oiling hole, 15x5mm conehead-shaped area.
I suspect/Has anyone seen an oil starvation problem? Anything else it
could be?
As it will be raced again, any solutions? I'm thinking oil accumulator or,
budget & rules allowing, dry sump...
