Viggen Exhaust Questions (long)

Rather than have to take my own oil to the dealer to get a Mobil 1 oil change at 5K I instead took my '01 Viggen to an Atlanta independent mechanic (SPG - Saab Performance Group). They were interested in the Viggen as they don't really get a lot of them since most of their customers drive older Saabs (yes, there were some really sweet looking tricked out SPGs and Volvos around).
Anyway, the mechanic, while the car was on the rack, wondered why they wouldn't ship the Viggen with a "sport exhaust". He seemed to be looking at the down pipe when he said it.
My question: if not a sport exhaust, what is it? Is the "Viggen Sport Exhaust" that I've read about different than the stock Viggen exhaust? If not, are there any warranty accepted upgrades I can do to get a true sport exhaust installed, and if so, is the benefit worth it? I'm not really interested in doing high-end exhaust upgrades, or removing the cat since Atlanta has tough emissions standards and I don't have the facilities to reinstall it myself. More than anything I'd just like a clarification of what the mechanic meant (yes, should have asked him while I was there).
I'm going to order a K&N as soon as I identify my current filter since that's a cheap and easy DIY upgrade.
Thanks in advance,
John
