another generic kill story...

The story starts as I find that our houseguest left the front door open when leaving five minutes earlier. Standing on my front porch, I can see my new dog (rescued from the pound 6 days earlier) in a neighbor's yard across Main St. maybe 60 yards away. He lifts his head seeing me and bolts toward me at full speed heading straight for the street. I look up the hill to see a pack of three cars comming fast on a collision course, leading them is an Audi wagon. I yell out for Bud to stop but I was helpless to watch as the Audi plows into him. Bud rolls six feet along the road's center line then limps into my house. The audi slows for 50 yards then accelerates away ...it has just become a hit and run. My blood begins to boil as I leave my dog in the care of my housemate. Bud could be dying on the side of the road and this man or woman is almost out of sight, having offered no aid. What this menace does not realize is that my neatly tuned Saab Aero is pearched on the front lawn ready to give chase. I take off onto the street with a roar and the familar phssshhhhhh of blow off at the 1-2 shift. Deft manuvering and a few shortcuts bring me on top of the Audi just outside of town and I contiue to tail until the vehicle pulls into a clinic parking lot. I try to remain cool as I confront the woman as she exits her 1.8t. She explains that she would have stopped but that she was late for a doctors appt. She then realizes exactly how shallow she sounds and trys to offer aid. Already getting back into the Aero, I explain that the dog could have needed her help then and that it was what she did then that could have made all the difference. Later at the animal hospital, Bud escaped the incident with 4 stiches on his knee and a new found respect for cars... The story luckily has a happy ending (and I killed my first Audi ;)

PS. Hope no one gets mad at the wasted bandwidth. I promised my Saabhead housmate (92 Turbo 9000) that I would make the post.
