My understanding is that cooling the exhaust side of a turbo, particularly the manifold, will actually reduce power, as you are taking away some of the heat energy (cooling exhaust gas = lower charging pressure, according to gas laws, I forget which ones). Keeping the rest of the turbo cool is certainly a great idea. Besides the degree of extra cooling you will get from moving the battery will be minimal and you definately won't notice any drop in power. Your exhaust manifold, and turbo parts will also last longer if it is kept cooler anyway.
I also agree with comments by others that the battery is fine in its original location. I have yet to see a battery wear out prematurely in my (ex)78 99T or my Dads 83 900T because of its location, despite every auto electrican saying that is was a bad place for the battery.
I moved the battery to the trunk in my 72 99 and my 78 99T for better weight distribution rather than temp considerations (the car has no turbo....yet) and it actually made a considerable difference in handling.
