As I recall, putting the 2.1 (or 2.3) head on an earlier motor results in a slight C/R *decrease* due to a slightly larger volume of the combustion chamber. Someone posted those numbers to Turbo! a while back.
Milling the head is usually not a recommended method. There is only so much material you can take off the head, and if you cut it down, you've reduced or eliminated any chance of cutting it again in the event it warps.
Shuffle through the manuals & see if there is a piston out there with less 'dish' than what you have. Even check the 8V pistons.
Otherwise, it's custom pistons...(or an LPT setup??? ;-)
