I don't think T5 has the VSS at all. That came with T7 in 1999.
I've successfully run my 1998 900 SE with several T5 ECU's from the
wreckers while searching for a HOT 205hp version. I did get one dead one,
but since the box was partially smashed and the connector shroud was broken
off, I assumed that to be a victim of some accident. I also tried one from
a '96 9000 Aero, which worked but did not boost fully in all gears.
Finally I bought a new T5 HOT ECU from the dealer (only $330) and it
plugged right in and fired up fine!
That said, I cannot figure out what the problem with Terry is. What is
your problem, Terry? :)
The T5 ECU has a single pin that is either open or grounded, that tells it if
the car is an auto or manual. It should run either way. Like zeke
indicatd, the boxes are the same. I have the manuals for both 9000 and
900 T5 cars, and the only difference in wiring diagrams is the OBD I
versus OBD II. Even that is minor, a couple of pin outputs changed.
