No, pressure to centre port - the "proper" way

I worry that running it "backwards" makes it slower to open, which will not only hurt performance but could also smash my compressor with the 1.6 bar I'm running. The old -103 valve had absolutely no problem running this way. Remember that under steady-state conditions, there is practically zero pressure differential across the diaphragm, no matter how high the boost pressure. I think the problem was that the transient pressure difference that opens the valve was so great in my car that the diaphragm was opening much faster and harder than with standard boost levels. With much of the diaphragm on the -110 valve fixed rigidly to a brass disc, there is only a small fraction of the diaphragm area available to take up the movement. I believe this is what caused it to fail.
The Bailey piston-type valve is working very well. Again, pressure to centre port.
