Didn't have a chance to watch the other Saab, too busy swapping numbers and so on. I'm pretty sure he did much better than he had done before. Maybe I'll see him at the next one and try and offer some advice.
I'm torn on whether to modify or not. I'll get a new 9-3 Viggen replacement if it comes out, so I am trying to figure out whether or not it's worth dumping money into a car I might get rid of within a couple of years.
I'm happy with the Viggen, but think it (and I) can be better. Right now, I'm thinking I might contact Morris Suspension to see about a custom set of double adjustable shocks: better than the Koni's and you can dial in the rebound and compression seperately. They are kind of pricey though at around $800 per corner. The other rulebook "freebie" is the front swaybar, but I've heard the stock unit is about where you want it anyway...
My thought process is that I'll work on the handling via alignments and adjustable shocks to get the handling better and remain in GS. I'd love to get my hands on how to modify caster and camber in the Viggen using the "legal" Saab factory service manual techniques used for crash victims. Maybe later look I'll at "other mods" like LSD, race clutch, Traction Control, CPU's, exhaust and intakes to keep me competitive in DSP if Saab doesn't come out with a Viggen replacement.
Later,
Chris Fisher
