in place of OEM (or factory option) electric oil pressure gauge.
My car was broken into so I am in the process of replacing all 5 gauges that were stolen.
What I have installed so far: Autometer Cobalt electric boost, Cobalt A/F.
Having probems with oil pressure. Basically the wiring harness from the old Saab/VDO electric oil press gauge has only 2 wires (and a 2 wire harness) coming from the sender, presumably a hot and ground. Now, the Autometer has 3 wires and a 3 wire harness, meant to tap into this nice little brass sender unit that came with the gauge. BUT** I am not about to tap into the oil pan for this (yet), so I need help in how and what to tap into ie which wires go where. If anybody can ID the Autometer grey, black, and purple wire, or if ANYBODY has installed the new Autometer oil pressure gauges, please help......I'm stumped.
oil temp and water temp presumably will be easier, but hey are on order right now.
A side-note...the Cobalt gauges are very very nice... I like the illuminated needle but hte LED lighting is a bit bright...even when dimmed half way! Still nice though.
thanks very much!
