Keep the BTM it is the most adjustable timing device you can get. It will let you get the max of what ever combination you have from the drivers set.
Adjusting the APC box I normally only touch the "P" and "F", played with the "K" on my daughter car and wasted a motor.
As for waste gate the problem can ocurr that when you get base boost to high it can not open enough at max rpm and boost to control the boost if detoantion ocurrs. A ten pound acutator would allow for more stroke but you coould still have detonation at 10psi with out water.
