Are you sure that there's not a leak somewhere? The growl at startup is pretty characteristic of a leak in the system. Try putting it up on jacks and feeling all down the exhaust while the engine is running but cold. That said, a turbo does quite the exhaust a good bit by itself, and the system was probably designed more with the turbo motor in mind. Adding a resonator could certainly produce the effect that you want, but its kind of a black art getting everything to sound the way you want. And you'd have to find someone to weld up the stainless steel as well as the expense of a new SS resonator. You could probably sell the system on classifieds for good money, then maybe replace it with a stock rear muffler and straight center pipe so it's a little louder than stock, if that's what you like. IMHO, fancy exhaust tips don't do anything other than look nice.
