the other thing about this is that at 5 or 5.5 lbs if you took the actuator hose off the turbo it would only get up to 16-18 lbs if I remember corectly what happens is the exhaust pressure is about 2 times boost & actualy blows the WG open
I think gorper is rite on the APC settings VS WG settings
when going for higher bosts 17-20 it is a must to run a way higher base boost to avoid this I run 15 lbs base boost (using a helper spring)
never adjust the WG all the way tight as this causes spring stacking limiting the movment of the WG & making it less eficient
the other advantage to a lil higher base boost is that on most APCs to reduce boost surge I think around 2700RPM the cycle the apc solonoid to open the WG a lil which slows down spool up so some use a MBC to deal with this but a lil higher base boost also helps this out just as well
