I am currently in a major engine rebuild and while I was at it I thought I would replace seals in turbo. In the essence of trying to learn as much from this project and save money I am trying to do as much of the labor myself. I am practicing on old broken turbo and I have taken the compressor housing off and the turbine housing as well and trying to get to seals but cant get special designed bolt on top of compressor shaft loose to pull shaft and blades of turbo out.
Questions
1. What is the special socket or tool needed to get blades and shaft out of turbo, and how to do it?
2. Since I am learning on old broken turbo first where does one make scribe marks b4 disassembly? I think I am suppose to scribe the center housing with the compressor and turbine housing. Is that correct?
3. While taking old turbo apart I took off compressor housing first then exhaust. Is this the correct method?
4. I have found a couple of turbo rebuild internet resources but none specifically step by step for Saab. Is there one?
Thanks In advance
Jack
