Hi,

My simple question is what's the best junk yard turbo and manifold setup for my car? Are there any special modifications needed or is a simple bolt on process? I've been quoted 250$ to 300$ for a good turbo, exhaust manifold and plumbing.

I have a 1987 9000t with a 2.0L motor with a 1992 "2.1-2.3L head".

I've port matched the 2.0L intake, I have SPG APC, larger 30 injectors, 3" cat back special waste gate and I'm running the standard 87 2.0L turbo.

I have a few more detailed questions only if you have time.

1) The 2.1L has the same intake and exhaust valves as a 2.0L but larger intake porting. My car runs well but it's a bit doggy until 3000RPM and the turbo spools slow, I'm sure do to larger intake ports and the 2.1 heads lower comperrion. I've heard many differnt Turbo stories, people say the best fix is to add later model turbo and exhaust manifold and I may need to add some simple plumbing. I've hear the hot set up is a 93 or 94 Aero turbo and any turbo and exhaust manifold from a 2.3L 1991-1998 will work?

2) I called my local used parts distributor and he said he sees a high failure rate with the 91-93 turbos.

3) Can you tell me what is the best turbo set up with my car?

4) Can you tell me all the parts and special mods I will need?

5) Will the newer turbo spool up and give me more off the line torque?

6) Will I loose lot's of top end ?

7) What type of prices should I expect to pay for all the needed parts?
any tips on wrecking yards? I don't want to spend the big bucks for a new turbo.

8) Is there any thing I should avoid?

9) Is there any thing I should do while I'm replacing the turbo?

10) Also will a 2.1 non turbo snail type intake run well or better than the 2.0L intake with a larger turbo?

Thanks for all your advice and wisdom.
