...some info... I'm no racing fanatic, I picked this up at last years SOC.
Per has done very well on what Europe knows as "Rally Cross" racing (he's done well otherwise too).. it is an amazing competition that is a cross between Rally style racing on short and hilly autocross style layouts. We saw some great footage of Per winning the championship. Each competition is a set of heats, follwed by payoff heats, followed eventually by the last race. Each heat is a short event, running the track circuit many times. The cars get up to about 60mph (i think) but are constantly turning or changing elevation in varying degrees, making for amazing action as 6-8 cars battle it out for position.
In Maine (perhaps in many other areas too), there are still factions of Ice racers, and many prefer Saabs... there are also Saab Rally racers in the States.. met a couple at last years SOC, nice folks with a bad good disease(bad as in expensive, good as in fun and much better than a drug habit!)
Per is very likely to be back at Pikes Peak.. given that he backed off at the end because she was heating up, they could set another record and should easily win again. I think it would be a great way to get attention for the brand, by being vocal about his effort/success and this years competition (nudge nudge wink wink) :^)
oh btw, did I mention that the vfa was awesome.. .:^)
