I owned a set of S-02 PPs (215 size) mounted on 9-5 Aero rims on my since departed '94 900SET. They were great for a while (overall traction, especially wet)-but as the tread wore, they got loud. They wore pretty quickly, too. In cold weather, I found them heavy and slow responding. I live in New Orleans, so "cold" is relative, and we don't deal with snow, so summer tires are best for around here.

I kept the wheels and mounted GS-D3s (225 size) on them, and slapped them on my wife's '01 9-5 wagon. Although I've only had them a couple of weeks, I've put over 2k miles on them (mostly from a Disney trip to Orlando my family took over Mardi Gras). Had the opportunity to try them out and they are, by far-the best tires I've ever owned.

They have the best wet traction of any tire I've owned (which is important to me), have good on-center feel and initial turn-in, ride great and are quiet. We had a couple of torrential downpours on our Disney trip, with standing water over 1-2 inches at times, and at highway speeds-the GS-D3s performed flawlessly.

I highly recommend these tires without reservation, and they're priced lower than the current gen of Bridgestones, the S-03 PPs. I got them from Tire Rack (whom I've used for 10 years), with the road hazard warranty.

Look no further.

I am curious about the new Michelin PS2s, which topped the GS-D3 in a recent Tire Rack comparo, but I've had poor experiences with Michelins in general, and their overpriced and underwhelming in my opinion. There's only a couple of Tire Rack owner reviews on the PS2s (and they're really $$), so I opted against them.
