I agree with Kevin on the porterfield R4 on the street, they do function acceptably on saab 9000 when cold, however the noise is much unlike the typical brake squeel. I will probably take mine off simply to prolong their life since they are double to tripple the price of street pads.
In addition my experience would suggest that one forget about slotted or groved discs for these high temp operations with true race, pads since the gasing problems ect that slotted supposidely addresses aren't a problem with cured (broken in) race pads and the drilled rotors have shown much more severe cracking problems.
Question: are there any heat treated or other options for rotors that might improve their durability and allow the surfaces to wear a little bit more evenly? I have had some minor galling with the R4 that smoothes out over time.
