Are you talking about moving the rear axle forward? This is what a few people have done. I've only heard about 1) flipping the trailing arm links and 2) cutting and rewelding the OEM brake links about 1/2" longer. There may be more steps. I would look for "ubipa" in the search engine, he has a great web site that covers this procedure.
I know that you are making these yourself so here is what I've learned so far:
Currently I'm using chromoly rear links with double, opposite-threaded rod ends so that the length is adjustable like a turnbuckle while the link is mounted on the car. Makes for easy set-up and very tight handling!
In some cases, almost too tight - at the limit the car feels good, but it can oversteer (just like Brad warned me!!!) *especially* when the car is fully leaned into the corner and you happen to (whoops!) lift the throttle. Veeeerrry exciting, but not very user-friendly. So far I only scared the crap out of myself and one passenger, no off-roading. I think a person could get used to it, I mean if you are driving that hard and you know what to expect, it wouldn't be a big deal.
Anyhow the new design will use 1 solid rod end with adjustable length and 1 OEM bushing. This could even be a polyurethane bushing I guess. I think that this will provide 9/10ths of the performance and won't have the tendency to bite you if you make a little mistake. The length will accomodate stock rear axle location or extend for relocation (if I need to do that). The chromoly tubing just came in today, so it will take about a week to try out the new version.
