Ceramic coated heat shield Posted by Mio [Email] (#2511) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mio) on Tue, 17 Aug 2004 21:05:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I, like many people, have had (and am in the process of having) various parts ceramic coated (i.e., turbo turbine housing, discharge housing, distributor heat shield, exhaust manifold, etc.) and thought that doing the same for the engine bay heat shield would be rather unique.
I pulled the shield out of my '89 SPG just before having the engine bay painted, removed the tar-like insulation (soaked the shield in a hot tank) and took it to a local ceramic coating shop. It turned out much better than I had expected (always a good thing). This should buy me at least 10 horsepower. Ha!
