Temp drops past IC on my 85 Posted by Inga [Email] (#2994) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Inga) on Fri, 10 Sep 2004 08:53:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I got a laser temp gauge from work yesterday. I wanted to get "on the spot" temp readings. So I went out and drove my car 85 900 turbo. Ran smooth and easy the first time. Normal driving. I then pulled over, popped the hood and took readings.
Turbo (itself) 650 degrees
Intake manifold 110 degrees
intercooler 112 degrees
in pipe to IC 145 degrees
out pipe from IC 115 degrees
Then went for another drive but ran hot and fast
Turbo (itself) 675 degrees
Intake manifold 120 degrees
intercooler 112 degrees
in pipe to IC 158 degrees
out pipe from IC 124 degrees
Not a bad drop in temp. My best friend has a WRX we're going to test too. We just installed a H2O cooler for his IC. We are going to repeat the test for his car and mine again.
Also some facts to know the out side temp was only 85 and the RH was 65%. Keep in mind I'm taking the reading off the metal. The laser don't pick up air temp. I also have the old style IC pipes. I'm still looking for a set of 90 or older style mendel bent pipes.
