Ok, we should set something up soon. My car isn't quite running right recently, I think it's plugs though and some new ones should be here before next weekend.
Lars called me yesterday because he's just completed some mods to his SPG and we were talking about making a trip to the strip sometime soon.
The other thing I was thinking-about was that you might want to consider taking a couple of 1/4 passes and probably a dyno run to base-line what you have before you do anything. I know for a fact that Dave here in Houston had done some dyno runs with his Viggen, tried a chip tuner, went back to the same dyno and actually had less HP and torque than he started with--on top of that his A/F was waay messed-up where before it was spot-on through the entire rpm range. He sent it back, they tried again--and it was even worse. Needless to say, he had good data to back-up what he was telling them, and Dave correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he got his money back. Dave introduced me to ProTechnic (Porsche race shop, down 59) and we've both had good experiences there for dyno use, $85.00 for 3 good pulls, but they'll work with you 'till you're happy if there are any problems.
I'm driving a '01 9-3 SE. So far I haven't done the chip thing yet because I'm concentrating on getting my flows and handling optimized first. I'm really happy with the effect of the full 3" exhaust, sport cat DP combo, cone filter, upgraded intercooler, Viggen rescue kit, and 17" rims. Right now I'm planning a diet for the old girl, and have some Viggen springs/shocks and poly bushings, but I'm waiting until I need to do a brake job for all of that. I'd really like to build a balanced/strengthened/blue-printed/ported rev-er because there's good power in high RPMs but that's for the future. I've decided instead-of complaining about the gearing I'm just going to get some more engine speed. I bought the car used and there's something special about it already, it hasent's dynoed since before the intercooler install, but my last run was 236 HP at the wheels (unsmoothed), and I've ran a best 14.600 in 86 degree real humid weather.
Click on my name at the top to send me an email. We can maybe get together over a beer or soda to talk tuning for a few minutes if you want, or give me call--832-814-2309.
