Well, i'm not jumpin on the bandwagon w/the comments about the Dif failure as i haven't tried those out. I've tried custom setups and have had plenty of success and plenty of failure's. What it boils down to in the c900 is.. if you want a 5 sp. Good luck.. and do your best not to blow it to pieces.. the stuff about replacing the cluster gear and such.. I can't really agree w/.. I have been draggin saabs and building trans for the c900's for to long and have personally blown to many Gears... not cluster gears. I went through 4 trans in a 4,000 mile period.. my second only lasted 350 miles. Stripped 3rd and 4th clean off. I've also got the Head Machinist that works at the Saturn plant, that does custom work for me build me gears.. only then i through the Dif out the back.. I also use a rear girdle at the rear end. I've cryo treated, shot pinge'd, nitrated, magnafluxed.. done it all.. i still could snap the gears. I never snapped them at the low end either.. i wasn't an idiot dumping the clutch. Those of you that know me on here, know the setup that i have on my car ( jak you've seen it ) and i would snap the gears above 4600 rpm. So i have accepted the fact that my motor has moved beyond the 5sp. handling, period! So now the motor is dropping into the rear of the car, just for giggles. So to all that wanna sit under the 250hp mark, just be gentle and thankful its workin for now. when you move above that.. your just buyin a lil time w/adding mods to your box. Today alone i tore down 2 boxes that were just destroyed inside, regardless of what pinion you run, if you want alot of power to not snap gears your gonna have to do some serious work w/a 5sp.. or just drop to a 4sp thats mod'd like GM is talkin about.I personally am done w/the c900 just out of pure frusteration w/the trans in them. So i moved onto a 9k aero that will hold up a bit better. But still getting a c900 1/4 down n the 12's is alot of fun, and a good challenge.. the biggest is keepin the guts inside.. Good Luck all
Joe
