I auto-x a Saab 9-3 1999 automatic. Best place to gain information about local auto-x you may want to check SCCA.org web site.
Once you find a local club then I suggest you take a couple of novice course. Most local clubs offer them during their racing season.
The n/a 900s i believe runs in GS = Stock class. This class is one of the lowest and slowest of the stock class.
Sticky tires is very important but before you start spending money on tires, suspension etc etc. Find out about your class and allow modifications.
My Saab 9-3 is heavy modify so I race in SM = Street Modify. The waters in this class are very deep and fast. But consistency paid for me last year were I place 4th in my class.
Once you gain seat time which is the most important thing, may want to reconsidered another car. Front wheel drive cars like the Saab without a big rear sway bar have a lot of understeer. In my opinion, i rather have a rear wheel drive for racing auto-x or track. I can control better the oversteer than the understeer.
Most important thing about auto-x is to obtain good driving skills and have FUN.
