time to start a new tuning project? (long) Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Sun, 31 Jul 2005 11:16:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey everyone
I've had my c900S 4 door (1987, 200K) for about 2 years now, and i don't know what else i can do it it that will give me noticable results vs. the amount of money it's going to take to do whatever, also i don't want to blow up another transmission.
So far i've done SPG suspension, Automatic to manual swap, Light Pressure Turbo running 6-7psi, Catback exhaust, later style intercooler pipes, open air filter, car has 3 bar FPR, and it seems like everything on the car has been replaced at least once.
So far i can't justify tuning anything else on it because the car is on its 3rd transmission, and i don't want to blow up another tranny. I don't know where the car is hp wise (under 200 FOR SURE) so i guess i can't really blame the actual power of the car for blowing transmissions, i guess the next thing to point the finger at is the age of the transmissions.
It doesn't seem worth it to buy a rebuilt transmission and spend 1000 bucks tuning for 30-40 hp when i could pick up a newgen for around 2k and tune the living hell out of it.
So i guess my question is, should i stick with this project or move on to a newer, more reliable car? opinions?
Thanks,
Chadwick
