Do you have any idea about the build of the engine, cam, compression, etc.?
The 40 DCNF is a synchronous 2-barrel where the 32/36 is a progressive.
You're getting both 40's all the time rather than one and then the second under heavy throttle.
The 40 DCNF would usually be on a pretty heavily built up engine for performance.
Your timing and distributor performance may have influence on how it actually performs.
But overall it's probably too much carb and maybe set up for max performance on WOT.
Jack Lawrence would definitely be a good resource.
