Broken screw -- Easy; drill out the broken part, then use a little nut and bolt to hold that corner of the carb together. Be careful to tape up all the carb guts before you drill, to keep metal bits out of the insides. Alternative if you're a purist: drill out the broken part, plug the hole (braze, J-B Weld, etc.) and re-tap it to accept the original bolt. This will avoid be penalized by those picky concours judges at Pebble Beach ;)
Throttle connection -- I forget which carb you have, but there are only so many ways this can go together and only one of them is right, so you can work it out by process of elimination. On a FoMoCo carb, for example: the throttle arm should still be on the carb, and it needs to be pulled by the pedal linkage as you press down on the pedal. The pedal linkage (vertical rod from the pedal, rotating rod across the top of the engine, bellcrank on the end of it) should still be on the engine, right? Well, with the carb back on the car, you need to insert the bent-wire gizmo you removed and saved (you DID save it?!?) into the holes in the bellcrank and the carb's throttle arm. Make sure you push the two little nylon bushings into the holes before you put in the wire, and then press down the spring clips onto the wire to keep it from pulling out. Try the linkage and make sure the throttle works smoothly throughout the range; if it doesn't, try again with the wire gizmo turned the other way.
If this whole wire gizmo/nylon washer/spring clip mousetrap business seems a little cheesy(which it is!) ditch the whole thing and buy one of those spiffy threaded, adjustable-length, spherical-rod-ended couplers made for use with Weber carburetors...
