Not sure which component you're referring to as 'odd shaped?' This will be my first Sonett exhaust job, so I'm no expert. Except for the crossover piece (and the difficult to fit headers) it all looks pretty normal to me.
One thing that has struck me about the Saab, is how solidly Saab mounted the engine to the car. Whereas an American car of that era would wrack itself quite a bit when revved, the V4 is mounted with enough braces to eliminate the engine rev wracking. It looks to me like that allows a tighter fit to components like the exhaust pipes.
