My newly-purchased '73 Sonett.... 33k, all original body, never painted... just got backed into HARD in my driveway by a one ton truck. Completely shattered the bonnet, grill, etc.

We're turning it into his insurance... but I know it's going to be a hard fight. There is an intrinsic value in a completely original car that cannot be replaced by repairing and repainting. Not sure if I'll be able to quantify that with the insurance company.

Since there are so few completely original low mileage cars for sale, I'm going to have a difficult time establishing an accurate value. (Not helped by the fact there is significant trunk rust due to a badly leaking gasket... though the rest of the car is pretty solid...)

Any suggestions?

If they let me keep the car, I'll be in need of a front end... but it's too early to say yet if the car will be repaired... I'm sure a new bonnet and quality paint job will surpass what the car is worth...

As I said before... bummer...
